The well-known food truck, Slutty Vegan, opened up a brick and mortar in Westview Atlanta. It didn't take long for me to get sluttified.
One afternoon I was sitting on the floor of my stepmother and father’s room. My stepmom and I were talking about food and food trucks and she asked me if I had heard about Slutty Vegan. I told her I hadn’t and looked them up on Instagram as soon as she said the name. It was definitely catchy and caught my attention quickly.

Once I pulled up their account on Insta, I started to slowly fall in love. I’m a fan of all things burgers and the pictures, along with people’s reactions to eating these plant-based burgers already had me hooked. I checked constantly trying to find a place the truck would be located that wouldn’t be too hard for me to get to. Having not yet moved to the Metro-Atlanta area, living in Athens, it’s not an easy trek to the city, but I thought finding this food truck might be worth the trip.
Not two weeks after I fell in love with Slutty Vegan over the internet, I discovered they were opening a brick and mortar. I couldn’t contain my excitement. I tagged my bestie over at the Solely Living blog in the comments of their post. Alana told me she had been invited to the soft opening being held on Saturday and said I could come with her. Not only was I going to lose my blogger virginity with this event, I was going to become a slut while doing it.
When we arrived, I was in awe. Slutty Vegan was everything I had envisioned after looking at pictures online. We never got a chance to video chat before we met in person, but I knew as soon as I stood outside the doors of SV, I hadn’t been catfished. It was real.
“No need to call Nev and Max.”
The building was small, but had an attitude you’d never forget. When you first walk in, you make your order under the bright green arrow and menu. Make your way past the bold red sign reading Slutty Vegan that sits atop a wall donning phrases such as, “Vegans taste better.” Before you make it to the end of the counter to pick up your food, you’ll walk past three large burgers and voila, you’ve made it!
There were three options available for the soft opening: The One Night Stand; The Fussy Hussy; and The Sloppy Toppy. I ordered the Sloppy Toppy and thinking about it now as I write this post has my mouth watering all over again.
The staff was wonderful and had big smiles on their faces as they made the food. Their smiles grew larger as they handed me my bag filled with a masterpiece. I wasn’t sure if it was because I was grinning from ear to ear with excitement or if they were happy knowing they just handed me food porn in a bag.
You should note there aren’t tables inside, as the restaurant is set up like a food truck . . . but, lucky us, it’s always there!
Alana and I took our food back to her house and we couldn’t rip into our bags fast enough. And surprise! There were fries. Lightly dusted in seasoning, the crinkle fries were delicious all on their own . . . and that’s saying a lot coming from a chick who is a whore for dipping sauces.
Now, let’s get to the main attraction: The Sloppy Toppy. This plant-based burger was topped with shredded lettuce, tomato, sauteed red onions, jalapenos, and vegan cheese. It was covered with spicy mayo and served on a Hawaiian bun.
As you get to know me, you’ll discover cheese is my ultimate favorite food. Burgers run a close third (preceded by wings). So, I was a little apprehensive about vegan cheese and a plant-based patty. I had never eaten vegan before, so I had no idea what I was getting into.
When I finally wrapped my mouth around the Sloppy Toppy and took a bite, I was done. I had been #sluttified before the food made it’s way down my throat. The cheese was cheesy, the patty was warm and delicious and tasted just as good as any beef patty I’d had before. Throw in the toppings and the slightly sweet bun and the burger was a spicy smash.
