I'm Only Here For The Boo-ze

Updated: Dec 18, 2019

Hey y'all!

It's been awhile.

I know.

I mean, I was here on Tuesday . . . you can check out that blog post here.

But, I mean . . . like . . . I haven't been here posting something about booze.

It's been a long time. About 30 days to be exact! And I'll tell you why.

32 days ago I started a thing. A #30DayNoDrinkingChallenge. Nobody tasked me with this. It was something I decided to do on my own. I figured there was one point in time where I had gone nineteen years without a drop of alcohol, so 30 days shouldn't be a problem, right?

I would save some money, lose some weight, and hey, who doesn't like a good challenge??

So, I began this journey.

I saved a good bit of money, I lost about six pounds, and I did it! I beat that challenge's ass.

Who knew you could still have fun out with people without a drink in your hand? I was skeptical, believe me, but it wasn't that bad! I went to a few social events, attended a baseball game (free drinks were seriously being shoved in my face here), and went to book club where the mimosas were being poured like there was no tomorrow.

And what did I do?

I simply said 'no, thank you' and did the whole grin and bear it.

The whole experience wasn't terrible. Were there times I was like 'damn. I really wish I was having a glass of wine right now.'? Uhhhhmmmm. Yes. Duh. But, did I die? Nah, fam. I'm still here. It's really me writing this post.

Would I do it again?

Yeah! I would, actually. I think it's maybe a once a year thing for me. Pick a month and just be sober. Detox.

But now that the 30 days are over . . .

I'll be back to my posts about books and the booze that pairs perfectly with them! And since I didn't post for 30 days (because I had no drinks to drink . . . even though the bestie suggested having drink parties for other people to try the cocktail, but that just wasn't fair) we have a back up here. So . . . weekly postings? We're gonna try this thing!

First up this month will be the Bacon Me Angry Cocktail found on The Spuce Eats, courtesy Angry Orchard.

I'll go into detail on the recipe, give you a little bit about the book, and more next week!

While you're waiting, which book do you think pairs best with the savory cocktail?

1. On The Way To You by Kandi Steiner

2. The Turn Of The Key by Ruth Ware

3. I Can Be A Better You by Tarryn Fisher

Find out next week!!
