You've probably been wondering where I've been or what the heck I've been doing! Right?? I'm sure the five of you who read this blog are curious as to why I've disappeared off the webisphere. My absence has most definitely dropped my readers from five to three, but that's okay! I love the three of you who have stuck it out long enough to read this post right here! I really do.
So, enough rambling. I bought a house.
A whole house.
Well, a townhouse, but still. It's mine. ALL mine.
I feel like a real grown-ups now!
That being said, I have been all over the place trying to get the home purchased, packing and loading, unloading and unpacking, cleaning, and all kinds of other real-life ish. As much as I've hated doing it, writing and blogging and a lot of social media-ing has been put on the back burner.
Well, good news! I'm mostly unpacked and I've been able to squish in a little time to write on this here blog. So, here goes . . .
While I've been doing all the adulting, I've still managed to make time for reading (thank you Audible) and of course, indulging in some over 21 beverages.
What have I been reading, you ask? Lots of thingsssss . . . because I can't help but read more than one book at a time!
I've been reading a lot of Kandi Steiner thanks to the amazing deal she had on her Summer Romance Box Set (kindle version; sale no longer available at time of writing this post). It includes Weightless, Revelry, and On the Way to You. I've read the first two books in the set: Weightless and Revelry. Both books were great and perfect for the summer! I'm currently reading On the Way to You and it's my favorite in the set so far.
The local book club I'm a part of , Read Between the Wines, chose The Handmaid's Tale for our last meeting. We read half of the book for our July meeting and are finishing up the second half for August, along with another book I'll reveal in a future post.
I'm also always reading IT by Stephen King. I get too scared to read more than ten pages at a time and welp, go look and see how big that book is.
I recently started I Can Be A Better You by Tarryn Fisher because did we see the amazing cover Colleen Hoover uploaded for it for a brief time? Well, I bought that thing and couldn't help but start reading it.
Anyway . . . my point is I read a lot of #books and as you probably have figured out, I drink a lot of #booze. I was trying to think of a way to bring the two together and in talking to my bestie aka blogger extraordinaire aka my blog helper (as in she helps me with my ish cause I'm still clueless sometimes) aka my co-host on our future podcast Whole Snacks aka Solely Living creator aka Alana was like "why don't you just pair the perfect drink with the book you read?"
I mean . . . duh, right??
Y'all. I started this book on Audible what seemed like ages ago. Then life happened. Moving happened. Adulting happened and I definitely stopped. Not because I didn't like it and not for any other reason except shit happens.
I was finally able to start this book up again and I am so happy I did. I just started on Suit, so I can't say for surezies, but out of the series, Star is the best one yet! It may be because I loved Hans so much, but who can say exactly why? It was a good read and it made my ears happy as I drove from my old home to my new one and from work to home. It made my commute so much better!
When I was done reading this story . . . or listening to, I guess . . . I definitely thought of one drink and one drink only: a whiskey coke. This was pretty much BB and Hans's drink of choice throughout the book (as long as it wasn't SoCo- you'll have to read the story to find out why).
After my initial decision to go with whiskey coke, I sat back and thought about it some more. Could it really be that simple? I mean, it could be. Their love came simply and together, much like whiskey and coke, BB and Hans just worked! However, I felt like Hans needed something just a little bit more.
That's when it hit me!
Hennessy and Coke.
It's still a classic, rockstar beverage, but the cognac gives it something else. Something sweeter. Made from grapes instead of grains, cognac truly is a sweeter spirit than whiskey. BB describes Hans as being the sweetest of her group of men and I couldn't agree more! (I'm still a Ken fan though, just saying).
So, what's to take from all of this?
Grab a copy of STAR and fix yourself your own Hans-essy and Coke.
Hans-essy and Coke
in a lowball glass, pour 1 shot of cognac on top of ice. Add coke to your liking.
While you're sipping on that yummy classic, check out BB Easton on all the social media!
That's all for this week! Happy #ThirstyThursday and I'll catch you next time.
Disclaimer: I know I said a version of the word sweet like three times in that one paragraph, but I seriously could not find a synonym that worked better, so sowwwwy.
